Interesting read from the inside..N.Korea:
A conversation held with a North Korean source currently residing in Hyesan. It provides a glimpse into a reality that the outside world too often loses sight of whatever happens in the corridors of power in Pyongyang, the cult of the Kim dynasty must carry on for the rest of them, so that the leadership may maintain its surveillance mechanisms.
NF:..... Kim Jong-un has not been in public view for the past month. Various speculations concerning his whereabouts are swirling outside. What do North Korean residents think of Kim Jong-uns disappearance?
Source:...... Has he really been gone for a month? None of us are interested in where Kim Jong-un is or isnt. On North Korean TV, video clips showing Kim Jong-un conducting on-site guidance are shown on a daily basis. It is hard to know anything about current events, and barely a tenth of the population here reads the Rodong Sinmun.
In the residential unit meetings and in the marketplace, there have been rumours that the Marshal is feeling poorly... But nobody worries too much. He is still young, only in his thirties. If he falls ill, he can get treatment from foreign doctors. People here are concerned about following the price of rice and the exchange rate of Chinese currency, which fluctuates often.
We pick up important news like that through channels of contact in China and South Korea. Theres no real news from inside, as everyones eyes and ears are blocked to hearing positive things only. This is actually the first Ive heard that Kim Jong-un hasnt been seen for a month.
***
We had to end the call abruptly, with the Hyesan source saying we could speak again, but that vehicles from the Ministry of State Security were patrolling at night to detect communications signals.
Why does there not seem to be any worry about Kim Jong-uns health or whereabouts among North Koreans? Its not just because there are myriad technical obstacles to communicating or accessing information. But because in the North Korean system, discussing the ruling Kim in any detail, beyond the propaganda narrative, may mark you out for surveillance.
It is actually a crime to be curious about Kim Jong-un, it is actually a crime even to remember the dates of his appearance or disappearance. The propaganda narrative of Kim must be accepted as fact without question or doubt. Ultimately, the North Korean system fosters an atmosphere in which there is simply no need for anyone to inquire about Kim Jong-un beyond the state narrative such knowledge is unhelpful.
The present and continuing reality for an ordinary North Korean was clearly evident even in a brief call. A reality in which speculating about the Supreme Leader carries fatal risks. Where a resident inside North Korea hears only for the first time, through an outside world channel, Has Kim Jong-un really been gone for a month?
Kim Yo-Yong might exercise caution. People in her family don't live long if they oppose Dear Leader.

see post 21....Interesting how N.Koreans aren’t hearing what we do regarding Kim’s absence....
Is a good point, Caww. Have to agree the nkoreans probably have no idea and have not heard a thing and as pointed out if communication begins and questions start being asked the authorities would hush those person up quickly. They be very very quiet and very very dark at night.
It’s a good thing Obama is president.
Interesting also is usually a visit like that is all over their news....telling people how Kim sent these guys and all the glory to him, with flowers etc. .....that did not happen! In fact the Military Leadership did not mention Kim in their visit publicly.....that's’ a huge deal!
bump for interesting read!!!!
Quite interesting. Thanks for posting.
Let’s hope for at least stability in North Korea. They have alot of nasty weapons within range of Seoul South Korea.
YEs, I thought it was as well....so little we hear from inside...and fewer still who even dare to speak about it....
the conversation says much I thought...not hard to read between the lines either...
They weren’t just sending leaflets altho there were no doubt some. The balloons were packing care packages. Probably food from what I could see but maybe also a few small weapons. That would be a reason for the NGooks to get mad about it-—like they need a reason?
...”Lets hope for at least stability in North Korea. They have alot of nasty weapons within range of Seoul South Korea”....
I’m really quite certain there’s very real power struggle happening...and seemingly succeeding...too much is bypassing the “norm” required by the supreme leader...many things out of wack!
I think China is driving this big time....over the past months China has withdrawn a whole lot from N.Korea they need and want....so they’re pressing the Leadership really hard....to what end? But it’s moving now and how it’s going to play out will be very very intersting....If there’s a coup or change in actual leadership, China will control the Nuclear.
There wasn’t supposed to be a “second in command”, claiming that position would have gotten you executed in the old days.
Something strange is happening in NK, it is like the left hand and right hand are not in communication with each other.
Is that NK or SK money?
they always need more rice
Well, if she is in charge now we’ll know in a few months when she becomes round.
