'There was a friend with him and he has also been retained in the hospital and the crew from the ambulance are also retained in the hospital.'
The spokesman said the friend had told the authorities there they had travelled to Skopje directly from Britain and had not been in any country known to have Ebola outbreaks - raising the terrifying possibility that he contracted the disease in the UK or Macedonia.
The incubation period for Ebola can be between two and 21 days.
A Health Ministry official said the man had arrived in Skopje, from Britain a week ago and had been rushed to hospital at 3pm on Thursday, where he died several hours later.

More fear mongering! It is impossible to get ‘Obola’ outside of Africa. The FR ‘Obola’ experts will be along shortly to explain how this just can’t be true.
Or on the plane.
A link to this thread has been posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread
then again, most people will not confess their hidden behaviors like visiting a whore who probably has been an active port for many from around the world...just sayin'.
Seeing as how Ebola is an STD, similar in some ways to AIDS, it’s anyone’s guess and everyone’s problem now.
The Reston (VA) Ebola virus originated in the Philippines and was also traced to Indonesia.
The Ebola threads sure attract the spam posts.
Or on the plane.
Or that the "friend" is lying, and they actually were in West Africa.
>Seeing as how Ebola is an STD
eh?
Another very disturbing development. Since the big drug companies and the medical establishment don’t have a cure, and it will take months to develop the experimental drugs and vaccines, then common sense says they should immediately try something simple, cheap and readily available. That would be high dosage Vitamin C. Ebola wipes out Vitamin C stores in the patient’s body immediately and they then die from symptoms like rampant scurvy. Dr Frederick Klenner many years ago tried high doses of IV and oral Vitamin C with considerable success on virus diseases and toxic poisoning by snakes and spiders. To learn more Google his name and also “Vitamin C treatment for Ebola.”
Body fluids.
Only one problem ... High dosages of vitamin C and D could be lethal from some of reports have read. I don’t know cause only take on D (3000 units) every other day and obtain C from citrus.
A Health Ministry official said the man had arrived from Britain on Oct. 2 and had been rushed to hospital at 3 p.m. (1300 GMT) on Thursday, where he died several hours later.
Dr. Jovanka Kostovska of the ministry’s commission for infectious diseases said the man had been suffering from fever, vomiting and internal bleeding, and that his condition had deteriorated rapidly.
Amid fears that the disease might spread in Europe, Kostovska told a news conference: “These are all symptoms of Ebola, which raises suspicions with this patient.”
It was unclear, however, whether the man had recently been to West Africa, where Ebola has killed nearly 4,000 people since March in the largest outbreak on record.
“Initially we had information that he had been to Nigeria, but then his friend told us they hadn’t been anywhere,” said Kostovska.
I wonder whether he had a different disease. Late-stage AIDS?
And if you believe that, we're gonna get along just fine.
