Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Burwell said that despite the best efforts of health officials, Americans have to prepare for the reality that there may be more cases of Ebola in the United States.

We had one case and I think there may be other cases, and I think we have to recognize that as a nation, Burwell said at a media breakfast hosted by the journal Health Affairs and held at the Washington, D.C. offices of the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Burwells comments come as screening of travelers from Ebola-affected countries in West Africa has been stepped up at U.S. airports. On Wednesday, the first patient diagnosed with the virus on U.S. soil died in Texas.

She expressed confidence in the screening process that has already been in place in travelers' departure cities, but acknowledged that no such system is 100 percent.

There is a 100% chance that you will not eliminate the risk unless you do all that is possible to reduce the risk.
So easy to forbid flights from infected areas. So hard to deal with infected persons when they get on the airplane.
So stupid to monitor at airports for infected persons. The damage is already done by that time.
This is from Dallas' THPH with their potential second Ebola patient. They should be well practiced in Level 4 protocol and not one other hospital staff stopped her. Note to the doctor/nurse's hubby - no neck hickies for the wife tonight.
This is from a CDC training drill. The dude with the disinfectant spray might as well be those guys in the Dallas apartment parking lot.
More stupidity on parade while bringing in the NBC journalist.
We seriously should circulate these antics all over West Africa. It would stop them from sneaking into the US for the "best" medical care in the world.
They already know what will happen and have cya'ed themselves on that little problem. That is exactly why Frieden announced that any ol' podunkville hospital could handle Ebola. Uh huh, so why did the CDC waste all those billions of taxpayers' dollars to build those handful of units if they weren't really needed? Maybe Jesse should be demanding that be answered instead of focusing on the race card.
I guess they’re realizing that it’s going to get too big to hide
I’s jest a dum ol’ kontry boy but It sho’ do seem lak’ we bout tuh run out o’ dat welth whur dey ain’t agonna be no mo uv it what we kin shift. De ducks done went an’ et up mos’ all o’ mine.
CDC, WHO, Obola and DC pols are likely very well aware of 14 year old ebola research below, which was just reiterated by German docs currently treating Ebola patients.
IMHO - please consider preventatively bolstering your immunological system with Melatonin (per NIH 09/27/2014 pub), Vit D3, Garlic and Tumeric.
Prudently sanitize hands, and pray.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
A link to this thread has been posted on the Ebola Surveillance Thread
Thanks for the ping!
Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
Note the hood blowing around, too. Not that this is “airborne” but droplets and fomites can be...Tape the hood down.
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. We do not have the data=we do not know. Always err on the side of caution with things that can kill you...
That's not how it works.
If we have an epidemic here, what wealth is left will be spent here--anything less and there will be 'windchimes' hanging from lampposts. If the epidemic doesn't crash the US economy, in which case, there won't be any wealth left to shift.
Good grief. They need to start screening for this crap at the entrance to all public places: grocery store, post office, shopping mall, etc. This is it. We’re doomed.
