This has been happening all over California for almost a decade so glad the news media finally caught up with it, haaa! They get a US passport for their baby so if there is an uprising in their country, we have to get the US citizens out on our nickel. Due to being blind and having no guts to change this law, we have “US Citizens” by the millions living in pit countries who will scream that they are not taken care of by the USA during uprisings (remember Middle East during GW’s Pres. and Navy ship sent) and then the media screams and US taxpayer’s pay millions to rescue these folks who choose to live and pay nothing only the piece of paper saying they are a US citizen. Have them visit the border of Texas for the same story! Women stay in Mexican hotels until near birth and just float the river!

Just another oversight of lawmakers.

Not so much an oversight as a misinterpretation of amendment 14, paragraph 1.

1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

There are other reasons as to why simply being born on US soil does not automatically confer citizenship, but I gotta get to work.
