Since Mitch is not likely to be ditched, Thad needs to be targeted for retirement. He is an egregious example of a Senator well past his expiration date.
You leave the old guys alone. The ones with one term left are going to vote Republican. In the interim, get the young conservatives involved. Then when they retire, take over the local party.
