Exactly.
Been seeing this all my life....and in my study of history, even before my life.
Every Republican that ran against FDR was considered a doddering fool by the statists and the elite--media, academe, societal.
The elites did this in every election since:
Eisenhower was a nice old man but a doddering fool...who only won because he was a war hero.
Nixon against Kennedy? Don't get me started.
Goldwater was a maniac.
Nixon again? Well, he fooled the people.
Ford was an idiot because he pardoned Nixon...
Reagan was a certified loony, but had great handlers.
George H.W. Bush had a silver spoon in his mouth and didn't know squat about governing...
Bob Dole was a redux of Eisenhower but older and more doddering.
George W Bush was a coke fiend and a dunce.
John McCain was once a great war hero, but since then has been a joke (they were kinda close on that one...)
Mitt Romney was a rich elitist who was out of touch (ignoring the fact that their nominees were more elitists and statist)...
So, you're right ilgipper....this crap has been going on for decades.
Someone remind me how Hitlery was a shoo-in for 2008....anyone remember that line, too?!??!!
John McCain was once a great war hero, but since then has been a joke (they were kinda close on that one...)
Before McCain won the nomination they went on and on about how much McCain was a 'Maverick' because he didn't go along with the Rs and was willing to 'work with the other side of the isle'. They obviously were trying to help him win the nomination and then when he did they turned on him like rabid dogs.
Not that I care anything at all about McCain, just always know that whatever the left says they are always practicing their religion and their religion is Marxist/communist politics.
