The idea that Ebola will take over the United States is an unfounded fear, said Dr. Liise-Anne Pirofski, chief of infectious diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Influenza
MRSA
Resistant Gonorrhea

Everyone!
This mass hysteria over this disease is not warranted.
I took care of a friend, who contracted Vancomyacin resistiant MRSA.
She went through 3 treatments. Two by pic line and one by oral meds.
MRSA will absolutely kill you the same as Ebola.
I took care of her every day during this time and the MRSA ate off the ball of her femur.
Tough luck to be sure but, she needed a hip replacement anyway.
She then went on to live another 5 years taking 6-8 trips across the United States and Mexico each year and was quite active.
I and others who took care of her were careful and practiced extraordinary hygiene.
During this time we changed her bed pan using gloves and carefully washed the bowl with both bleach and alcohol.
We cleaned the toilet that we threw her waste down the same way.
We didn't share food during this time because she could transmit.
I did hug her a lot and allowed her to kiss me on the cheek, which I would always wash out of her sight.
After 1 year, she was given the clear and resumed sharing food and goofing off, as we had done 20 years before that.
MRSA and Ebola are transmitted the same way.
For those of you who think I'm being cavalier, I think I have bit more experience on this than 99.9% of the rest of you.
That is not a statement of arrogance but, of experience, pure and simple.
I'm sure many of you are familiar with MRSA but, few of you have 1st hand experience with it, as I did.
There are numerous Freepers here who will attest to my experience and they were a great resource during a time that was unbelievably taxing on me emotionally and physically.
Again, MRSA and Ebola are spread exactly the same way and both can kill you.
Stop the insanity...
Yes that’s why they wear the level 4 suits when handling it in a lab.
Bless you. You are a saint.
And they should.
That is quite a bit of volume and you don’t want the stuff on you.
They also use Haz 4 suits studying influenza strains as well.
What does that say?
The national epidemic of Political Stupidity, often referred to as ‘being or becoming a Democrat’ is not only destroying the nation, it’s contributing substantially, too, to the destruction of the entire planet.
Not regular flu they dont.
No, I’m not.
I started caring for her when I was 43.
I had never cared for another human being before. Not like that, where someone is completely dependent on you and you both have to develop a short hand language and this unshakeable trust.
Hardest, hardest thing I ever did and if she wasn’t my dear friend, I would have never done it.
I love her but, I’m sure she is happy being reunited with her husband. I hope.
Dear Gawd, she was hilarious. OMG.
Regarding the other three infections they’re all bad (or can be). Ebola is virtually every time.
WE may have to look into renting hazmats suits, Southeast Asia beckons soon, from swine flu to bird flu, MRSA, MERS, H1N1, and lordy knows what else hangs out in the tropics that can kill ya, I’m not sure Carter’s little liver pills and aspirin is all we will be packing.
Sad to see the ‘Homeland’ now caught up in a gubamint mixup and festering wounds, self inflicted.
Hope you’re hanging in there, Godspeed.
Yeah but there is a difference; We have a POTUS is doing his utmost to bring Ebola to the US and spread it.
bird flu
Well, good for you anyway. I’d find it much harder to deal with the bad pan stuff than the soft tissue infection. Probably couldn’t do it.
I experienced a flesh-eating condition of my own, down to bone also, was untreatable but fortunately not contagious and I could take care of it myself, more or less.
Did a quick check and couldn’t find anything, but I’ll bet $5.00 that Liise-Anne Pirofski, MD is a Democrat—She’s sure ugly enough.
Uhhhh, yeah they do.
I built clean rooms for Applied Bio, Celera, UCSF Bio Labs Parnasus(Monkeys are used in this lab), Elan Pharma, Genitope, Guidant, Intermmune, Abbott Labs and many others(just went through my customer list).
We have to go to classes on some of the work these places do, understand the risks and a bunch of other legal mumbo jumbo.
The funny part is we build these rooms many times before they begin any work with cultures and such.
Just so you understand there are Freepers who know what business we are in and will absolutely verify what I’m saying.
Been there, done that, didn’t take the free T-shirt...
There is that...
Terrible man.
What’d you have?
Stella lost the ball of her femur but, she was getting a hip replacement anyway...
And people do not follow appropriate hygiene for most things...have you seen the vomit cleanup method they used in the parking lot at the Dallas apartments? And don’t get me started on some healthcare people. It’s not the viruses...it’s the people dealing with them.
MRSA is very ugly stuff. I have a friend who is through it (we hope) more or less whole, thank God, and I mean that. The flu - the real one - has been with us for a very long time now and what we most have to fear there is, I think, complacency. AIDS should have been a wakeup call for an entire community and unbelievably, it wasn't. Not sure there's much more to be done about that but Lord knows we've tried.
