The protests were triggered by a Beijing-backed plan to "vet" all candidates in Hong Kong elections, amidst the backdrop of the progressive erosion of democracy in Hong Kong ever since the British handover.

Angered and infuriated by the peaceful crowds, the police have begun to provoke the citizens in apparent attempts to generate a violent reaction.

The Communist Party and it's proxies have remained uniformedly hawkish and uncompromising to the protestors, blocking off coverage of the protests and producing false propaganda to slander them.
