When did they send in the hazmat teams?”
According to Houston local evening news, they went in this afternoon and even had shots of guys in suits cleaning. Photoshop or perhaps real pics but taken some other place to make people feel good? Supposedly some guys were cleaning up the guy’s vomit from the sidewalk outside using a garden hose and washing it down the local sewer inlet. They certainly did not appear to have any kind of protective gear on based on pics shown. Just totally bizarre - and we are supposed to be the “know it all” society.
Guy who lives in the same complex was interviewed and very, very upset at the lack of information.

That’s funny. Maybe this is why BO has pushed so hard to raise wages, little did the delivery people know it was to compensate for hazardous duty.
Did you notice the woman walking through the stream of water being hosed down?
She was wearing sandals. This is very disturbing, and all we can do is pray for all involved.
I think we have become a complacent society, completely unprepared for what could lie ahead.
People in urban areas, used to “gibmedats” do not have enough of a social conscience to deal with quarantine, and it could get very ugly if this isn’t contained. To be fair, I am not sure the “burbanites” are any better.

Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

You hoser, you traveled to West Aftrica? Why in the world would anybody go there now, eh?
Thanks for the ping!

I originally didn’t notice but watched the news again and saw it. This guy should never have been permitted to enter the U.S., let alone fly across the country to Texas. But he was and we are suffering the consequences of hapless leadership from Obama on down who obviously do not have a plan with built-in contingencies and responsibilities for dealing with emergencies. Ignorance, denial and apathy get people killed.
I wonder why no one gathered the residents of that apartment complex together right after the guy was hospitalized and explained the situation to them, what they were facing and how to deal with it.
I thank God that we didn’t have a hurricane in Texas this year. Most of us who have been through Rita, Katrina and Ike are prepared and know what to do. The gazillion people who live here now that have never experienced that kind of a crisis are going to be standing around waiting for someone to lead them. But Ebola is something else none of us are familiar with. It’s past time for some honest information on what we are facing.
Thanks for the link. I’ll check it out. Saw on the news tonight that boxes of food and supplies had been delivered. Would hate to have to be quarantined but we have enough stuff in our Obama closet to last three months or so if need be. Too many people are just not prepared for any interruption in their lives. That is the scary part of all of this.
Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
That would be racist and God help our troops who are being deliberately exposed.
What are the odds that by monday there will be a suspected case in either Mexico,a Central American Country, or a Carribean Country?
There is some other hemorrhagic disease in South America.
