Ebola is at least 50% fatal even when treatment is given... hardly something to sneeze at - pardon the pun.
Actually we don't know what the mortality rate is in the US, because supportive care is more advanced in the US. Of the patients who have come here so far, the mortality rate is 0%. Obviously that will rise, but I think you're wrong to assume it will rise over 50%.
