My SIL is an EMS tech. Got stuck with a needle the other night from an HIV guy. Happens too often from what I gather.
Yeah, he should have been a bit more careful but working in a pristine classroom verses working in the field transport and ER is a different experience than he expected.

Not only that, but you are not allowed to out and out ask them, “do you have aids?” As an EMT, the hospital is not even allowed to tell you the person is infected without their OK.

Your SIL should be on post-exposure prophylaxis therapy (usually a ‘triple drug regimen’) for awhile, and they should have started it right after the needle stick.
