Hundreds of nurses have staged a protest rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, warning that US hospitals aren't ready for an Ebola outbreak and demanding more action by authorities against a possible epidemic in the US. About 1,000 nurses and healthcare workers attended the Planet Nurse convention on Wednesday, chanting slogans to raise awareness about the increasing danger and death from Ebola.
The protesters highlighted the lack of training, equipment and isolation rooms where suspected Ebola-infected patients in the US could be quarantined. They also took part in what they called a die-in by laying on the ground in imitation of dying Ebola victims.
Ebola "can easily come to our shores, and we're not ready," said Julia Scott, a registered nurse from Largo Medical Center in Florida who was attending the rally.
The rally included a moment of silence for international health workers who have died while caring for Ebola patients in West Africa. "It's not acceptable that these people are dying," RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United, told her fellow protesters. "It is going to come here," she said.
Four Americans have been or are being treated for Ebola in the US after contracting the virus in West Africa.
Biosafety experts say US hospitals do not have the means to properly dispose of medical waste contaminated with Ebola, which will jeopardize the safety of communities.
According to infectious disease experts, waste management companies are refusing to take any soiled sheets or protective gear that might be contaminated with the virus, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
The waste companies have cited US federal guidelines that require Ebola-related waste to be handled in special packaging by people with hazardous materials training.
Looks like those beached whales are done with their careers anyway. Can’t get around, can’t do much good for patients.
I was disappointed too. I was hoping to see buxom lasses with legs up to hyar, short skirts and candystriper aprons, those cute little hats ... you know, like stewardess used to be before .... OK, this is a good spot to stop.
But if I’m going to bleed-out from every orifice, I want nurses that are easy on the eyes!
Look at the photo, fat nurses on the ground.
You know commie unions are involved somewhere, look at the pre-printed signs.
I thought this fellow came to the US by way of London?

Oh. Those nurses are fat.
The nurses who cared for my son in ICU were not fat at all. In three weeks in that unit, maybe three were, and they were not assigned to my son. He had an overweight nurse when he was in rehab, but the majority of nurses in that unit were thin as well.
That is what visas and passports are for.
One must check visa/passport if they are to be of any use.
Thing is, nurses go into their line of work knowing that the pay is high but also knowing that they might have the duty of nursing during an epidemic. They generally get much more respect and better treatment from their nation than combat soldiers.
One would think these nurses in Las Vegas, a city overloaded with illegals, would march and protest all the diseases being brought into America by illegals from Mexico and Central America.
And emotional and dumb.
Then they must have changed a lot, they used to be caring and sharp.
I do know that they are very union now and democrat.
Nurses are politically correct to a fare - thee - well or they pretend that they are for fear of their jobs.
The nursing profession, like teaching and stay at home motherhood, is a victim of feminism. Bright young women have been brain washed to see these life options as beneath them.
hey! Hey! This non lurking RN excepted okay?
In the 1990s I subscribed to the two top nursing magazines to get into the world of a nurse I was seeing, I was surprised that they seemed to be all about pay, politics, and unionism, anything but nursing and patient care.
That’s when I was working on a master’s degree in nursing and first saw the mass insanity known as political correctness at work.
I got my degree and did a 180 on my politics. The latter turned out to be the better end of the deal.
Nationalized health care is making nurses the little sacrifice elves of Obama.
Feminism is a beast of greedy umscrupulous bastards who count on women to rob every day people (and not just men and babies) so as to buy a bunch of prostitutive gay crap. They are the commissars.
