Little old ladies from nursing homes, for example, they’d tell the ambulance drivers to take to another hospital because they were obviously going to die very soon and the ER people did not want to be saddled with the paperwork.
In this case, they might have had suspicions of Ebola and wanted the patient to leave immediately.
That’s a crock. Doesn’t work that way with EMTALA they’d be stuck with a suit plus $$$,$$$.00 fine for every violation. They were asked at triage, at registration and probably again during the visit for exposures and recent travel. Especially now with the electronic med record that has you fill out every little tab.
