That would be pretty hard for them to admit when family and neighbors were all interviewed and said they never saw an affair, and then the brother and sister-in-law even passed polygraph tests.
I'm guessing that Frein had "an interaction" with the trooper who was shot below the belt, and that Frein was informed that a King's Man had Droit De Seigneur over peasant wenches like his sister-in-law.
