The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States.

ROTFLOL...
I can’t believe I missed that. Kudos!
:-)
Uh oh, Bush’s fault.
Crossed up sarcasm currents...
It happens. :-)
I work in Lakeway, where my customer base flies more frequently than most in Austin, so I’m pretty concerned.
Lotsa Oil & Gas money, here, too. And the Lagos flight to Houston seems to be the primary Aviation vector. I’m just dreading the next pop in Houston.
From your link -
the patient had come from a funeral in Liberia
traveled from Liberia to the United States via Brussels and Dulles, VA, on to Dallas, TX
What will the coverup look like when one of the 3,000 soldiers in Liberia contracts the disease? Will the order NOT to send him to Atlanta result in a ‘stand down’ order, like Benghazi? There are those pesky political considerations to consider at the White House.
bkm to return by ... oh the irony.
This is how Scott Sigler’s book Pandemic starts. Not good for anyone now.
Yikes. No telling who had contact with this Ebola positive person in the multiple hospital visits....or, GOK’s where, once they were sent home with antibiotics. Scary.
“if I hid my Ebola”
Ebola is in Dallas. How many people do you think will get flu-like symptoms in Detroit, Minneapolis, or Seattle in 5 to 30 days and think - “I think I’m coming down with something” and still head off to work?
Or even more so to send their kids to school. I know a grade-school principal that had to shut her school down last year because for a week. So many kids with the flu were still being sent to school. (Mom’s had to go to work you know).
So true! I worry about everyone, but especially those working in healthcare. You will be in my prayers. Now we are being told by local news that CDC is not going to quarantine anyone exposed...except in the case they exhibit symptoms. Unbelievable disregard for public health and safety IMHO. So who is monitoring them? Is the CDC just going to depend on them to self report symptoms? Crazy!!
Yes, that vehicle needs to be in quarantine also. I hope they notify the families of any who were transported in it.
Have they at least grounded that plane permanently to decontaminate it? How many passengers have been aboard that plane since Sept 19th? That’s 11 days ago.
I am very familiar with Federal and State (NH) laws about quarantine.
I have also run live simulations with real politicians and judges (with smallpox, not Ebola), and I can tell you that both classes of officials are VERY VERY reluctant to use their existing powers to control communicable diseases.
Exactly! Also many doctors at that hospital go back and forth between Dallas and their sister hospital here in Fort Worth. I am seeing no real regard here by CDC to protect our citizens in any meaningful way. Does not bode well IMHO.
When people, esp freepers, say that - they are usually being sarcastic.

Now I’m going to faint...
At least the lake vacationers will be slowing down this time of year.
That’s an eerie visual not unlike the Holocaust.
