sad world when the first questions one has is "why was she there"?....
granted, its reality....
but can't we once in a while ask "why was he there?"

He was there looking for a victim out alone at 5am.
I never go to a public bar. Most are the most unsafe places you could find. If I want a drink, I can have exactly what I want much more cheaply at home, and I am safer at home. I even have protection at home. It is my territory, and I have all the advantages there.
There are even some large cities which are relatively safe, if you keep regular hours (work in the day, sleep at night), and dont go to obviously unsafe places like bars and minority neighborhoods where you are a stranger, and therefore viewed as prey.
Yes, it reminds me of when I hear “she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.’’ NO NO NO. To me, that’s blaming the victim.
She had every right to be where she was at that time - it is the criminals that were in the wrong.
That said, I would not want my 23-year old daughter out alone on the streets at 5 am, no matter where.
