You drove a nail into my head with that comment. Schools become the instruments of the people who own them. That’s what I took from what you said. If government owns the schools, it may be technically owned by the people (public) but it is those in government who exercise ownership rights over the schools, supposedly on our behalf. To assume they are always selfless people only interested in the public good is naïve and dangerous.
I think that makes a case against public anything that can influence the way people think to the exclusion of other ideas. Public schools do that exclusion. I am a strong advocate of home schooling and the more I think about, the more certain I am people would better off not trusting to the “good graces” of self-serving bureaucrats.

Right on the mark. All by strategy captured by the Republic of the United States of America’s enemies, and without a whimper.
Their treasonous behavior can best be explained by the fact that they hold no allegiance to our country... Many (more then we realize?) of those folks are foreign born and certainly DON'T hold the same values as most Americans... And others are just burned out junkies from the 60's... Bob Beckel being a good example...
Many of the jobs I've had required vigorous background investigation... Today we give our children over to complete strangers... Not too smart on our part....
