Shirley Deege is a proud Republican. For as long as she can remember, the nurse has been voting for Pat Roberts — in the 1980s, when he represented a vast patchwork of dusty plains hamlets in the House; in 1996, when he first ran for the Senate; and every six years after that.
“Looking back over my life, I’m wondering, ‘What major things has he done for Kansas?’ I’m coming up empty,” said Deege, 53, as she sipped coffee while waiting for Roberts to arrive at the county fairgrounds in Kinsley this week.
“He’s spent so much time in Washington,” she added. “I know he has a house in Virginia. Dodge City is supposed to be his home, just up the highway, but I don’t hear of him coming back too much.”
But this week, Roberts came back. His reelection campaign, which was supposed to be a sure bet in this heavily Republican state, has transformed into the most surprisingly close Senate race in the nation. Dole, 91, a former Senate Republican leader, presidential nominee and ailing Kansas legend, who is in the midst of a farewell tour of his native state...

I don't care if he lived on Mars for the last 40 years when his lifetime voting record according to the American Conservative Union is 86%.
The goals for anyone with a political stratgey are 1) A Republican controlled Senate 2) Enough conservatives within the Senate to set the agenda and 3) A Reagan-like conservative President in 2016 with a conservative mandate that force Congress to follow his or her agenda.
Establishment types are a means to an end for conservatives. But, there is no way to win without putting some in Congress.
I do, I have a big issue with the trend in this country for lifelong Washington based politicians and the rise of a distinct political class in this county. But, that is a fight for another time and place. I expressed my displeasure during the primary with my words and my vote. I now support Roberts as he is a conservative and he is one of the key to Republican control of the Senate which is the most important issue in this election year.
We have a reliable conservative vote here...it is ridiculous to squander it.
I am advocating a vote for Roberts, that’s certainly what I will do. But, career Washington politicians do not get my support in primaries and I will work to see to it that a conservative Kansan is nominated in his stead next time out.
I understand it perfectly well. There are liberals here in sheep's clothing who sow nothing but discouragement.
They show up on every thread and bash any Republican incumbent for not being conservative enough - even with a 100% conservative rating from the ACU.
Push back or ignore them.
Too many don't care if we get the Senate and are sour grapes about not winning the primary. But if you can't get a good primary candidate, what's to be expected?

After all, if "Republicans" (whateva TF THEY are) win an election, rising sea levels will inundate Kansas and cause horrible suffering among women, children, and members of Federally Protected minorities, the LGBT community, and Latinos.

His website points out that he has helped central Kansas by being involved with the effort to move the Big Red One back to Fort Riley. He has helped South Kansas by a monster improvement for the facilities at McConnell and keeping tanker production in the USA. He stopped an effort to move Gitmo prisoners to Leavenworth. He got new federal funded schools for Fort Riley to relieve pressure on Junction City and Ogden districts.
He brought the Bio and Ag Defense facility to Manhattan Kansas as a leader of the effort, a 3.5 billion dollar injection of permanent and construction jobs.
He also authored a bill to stop common core.
So let’s look at that issue raised by the woman interviewed. The guy is an entrenched senior Senator. He is a pretty solid conservative. Did he fail the bring home the bacon? I think not which is one of the saving graces to having a three term Senator run for re-election.
Washington Post found an ill informed voter that had not done her research.
So keeping Reid and the corrupt democrats holding onto the Senate is a good idea????
This is no time to be sending messages.... that crap gave s 4 more years of Obama.
We must win the Senate, period.

I know Roberts is uninspiring, but he is better than most of the other “Republican” senators. KS should vote for him again under the circumstances.
