Hundreds of students walked out of classrooms around suburban Denver on Tuesday.
They staged the civil disobedience in protest over a conservative-led school board proposal to focus history education on topics that promote citizenship, patriotism and respect for authority.

Drove by one of the student groups yesterday. They were out with nonsense signs saying “Honk if you like history”. I was fairly uninformed about it until I saw articles around here (I don’t pay attention to local news mostly, neither liking the local papers or watching the news programs).
Honestly I’m more surprised that conservatives managed to get control of the school board, but I suppose lefty overreach of late has engineered some pushback.
No doubt it is a Zinn curriculum which is currently in place, and any deviation from ‘hate America first’ is denial of history according to good lefty indoctrination.
Absolutely. Flunk the students, and FIRE the damn teachers who refuse to teach kids what they need to know.
Conservatives took over the JeffCo School Board recently and this is a union led protest.
It doesn’t take much to encourage students to skip school.
They probably walked out because they hate that a black man is President.
Guilt?
Ha! That’s only for those who aren’t deserving of victimhood status and rewards.
That’s some good little communists y’all are raising in Colorado.
Everyone gets a Zero for each day and every class missed. See how they like repeating the same grade next year. High School students cannot be allowed to run the schools.
Amen!
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
When I see these students I think stupidity and indoctrination.
Most were probably protesting just to protest. They didn't even know what the heck they were protesting. The rest were probably happy to get a day off from school.
Exactly on all points.
Me too. Born here. And my wife too.
Really sad to see this once beautiful state lose it’s innocence.
If they are going to discuss the evils of America then they better damn well discuss the evils of our enemies starting with the 100 million deaths under Communism and the brutality that came with it. That ought to piss off the so called “open minded, anti-censorship” elites (who are really communists and socialists) who are pushing this BS.
After all, fair is fair.
It is all a show of power and nothing more. Liberals and teachers are concerned that our county will end up like Wisconsin. It is a preemptive strike.
We are just trying to get my son through High School and then college. And then we are planning to leave this once great state.
Indeed you are right.
No mistake - this protest is teacher led.
Exactly right.
The American Citizens Handbook (The American Creed, as it was known before the 60s) would be banned in public schools now, I guess. Full of quotes and inspiration about America, biblical references, founding documents.
NEA bought it from 4H in 1941 and published it until 1969, then they abruptly stopped production and buried the last 10,000 or so copies. Get one while you can.

The lefties on the school board were identified and removed in the last election. The new curriculum is real American history, no apologizing for the atomic bombs in Japan and such nonsense. The leftie teachers and their union are not comfortable with the truth.
The new curriculum also teaches the Constitution and other subversive stuff. The AP is squealing because the people shut down the commie propaganda machine.
So, let me get this straight...
The voters in those counties voted for this change in the curriculum.
The teachers didn’t like the change. They wanted to keep on teaching the Howard Zinn/Saul Alinsky versions, and the voters overruled that.
Friday, the disgruntled teachers had a, “Sick-Out,” in protest.
This week after, these kids are free to ditch school in protest.
Morons on FB are screaming, “This is a beautiful representation of democracy in action!”
Yet are totally oblivious to the irony that this, “Beauty,” is counter to the democracy that already happened when those votes were cast?
Did I leave anything out, or would that about cover it?
