But Kazantsev was no Miss Congeniality at Hofstra University, where she was expelled from her sorority last year for hazing new recruits.
On her resume, Kazantsev lists that she was new member educator and recruitment committee president for the university's chapter of Alpha Phi, a position she reportedly shared with her best friend in the spring term of 2013.
A source told Jezebel that Kazantsev and her friend made the pledges' lives 'a living hell' by calling them names, and berating them over physical flaws.
The terrifying duo reportedly made the new members perform certain physical tasks to the point of bruising and exhaustion.
When someone reported the harsh punishments, Kazantsev and her friend were kicked out of the sorority, near the end of her senior year.
They were banned from attending any sorority events, but allegedly sneaked into the society's end-of-year formal with their dates anyway.
After she was crowned Miss America for 2015 last week, neither the university or the sorority issued statements of congratulations.
When a Jezebel reporter called up the university to ask about a 'high-profile individual who was expelled from her sorority in late April 2013', a representative said 'Was this person, by chance, in Atlantic City last Sunday night?'

Interestingly enough, that's a quality that is highly sought after in broadcast TV especially in newscasters.
They don't call 'em "Talking Heads" for nothin'.
A few years back I happened to meet a prominent Chicago news guy named Jay Levine who works for the ABC affiliate here. The first thing that struck me was how skinny he is and then as an aftershock how huge his head is especially compared to the rest of his body.
These aren't the best photos, but remember that his suit is padded out at least an inch in the shoulders -
Maybe this bimbo has a shot at becoming an news reader or weather girl somewhere. She certainly passed the socio-political litmus test.
In the photo to the left, he certainly does have an alien Kanamit head.

An old friend of mine who was a TV bigshot told me of this particular trait and ever since then I can’t help but noticing it on most of the Talking Heads. Levine is just the best example that came to mind.
My smile is “gummier” than hers. I’ve always hated it so I developed into a person who never laughs in public and in my pictures never really look happy:(
Yep, maybe the least attractive Miss America in the pageants’ history. I bet about 45 other ladies at that event let out a huge silent “WTF”

Interestingly enough, part deux, Merv Griffin shared much the same opinion. I saw Vanna White being interviewed once where she stated Griffin told her he thought people with oversized heads like hers showed up better on TV, and that was one of the major reasons he hired her for "Wheel of Fortune".

She really is the worst looking Miss America in history, who did she bribe or who does she know to win. The fact that she is a disgusting bully just adds to her putrid aura.

It’s even worse if she was fully transparent about being kicked out of her sorority because SHE abused young women. The Miss America Pageant (Co.) gave a person, who ran on the platform of defending ABUSED WOMEN, who apparently admitted she also abused women, the crown! Beyond belief.

It’s completely absurd. I watched Miss America 2014 because of a connection to Crystal Lee who is classy and highly intelligent, she is pursuing a career in Science. Nina Davuluri won the title of Miss America and Crystal Lee was the first runner up. Watching Nina this year on TV I found her to be more beautiful and graceful than when she won! Lovely to see. After this year’s fiasco with the cup player and sorority abuser Kira, I’ill go back to not watching Miss America.
