Amarillo, TX - An incident involving a Clovis (NM) police officer accused of using excessive force is receiving a lot of attention.
A video recently released shows what happen during the traffic stop.
The officer in question is Brent Aguilar. He placed Jorge Corona under arrest during a traffic stop for concealing ID.
According to a local attorney, that was just the first mistake.
Dan Lindsey says the second mistake was slamming Jorge Corona to the ground when he was not resisting or evading an officer.
"Jorge was falsely accused of concealing his ID, falsely arrested, falsely slammed to the ground, falsely accused of some serious charges of resisting and evading an officer, and those charges carry a year and a half in jail," Lindsey said.
Lindsey says an officer can request a person's ID if they believe a crime is being committed.
"He was committing no crime what so ever, he was merely asking a question of the officer very politely as you can see from the video," Lindsey said.
Lindsey, who is also representing Corona, says he suffered a fractured cheekbone along with numerous cuts on his face.
"We're hoping the Clovis Police Department will accept full responsibility and pay those medical bills if not we would have to resort to the courts to force them to take responsibility for this," Lindsey said.
We reached out to the Clovis Police Department for them to comment on this incident, but they were unable to go on camera due to a pending internal investigation.
Lindsey is hoping to clear charges on Corona, and put charges on Aguilar.
"The officer could be facing assault and battery charges," Lindsey said.
Lindsey says he asked the New Mexico State Police for a criminal investigation, but it is unknown if that will take place.
Corona suffered a fractured cheekbone and cuts.
My apologies from the Department of Redundancy Department.
How do you falsely slam someone to the ground? You either do or you don't.
No. The cop's FIRST mistake was not ensuring that there was no video recording of the incident. What do the each them in police academy these days?
This is the crap cops are taught to do. They are trained to intimidate and induce fear in people they interact with by using foul language, screaming threats at them, and doing their real nasty work once everyone is handcuffed and unable to execute a defensive posture. ie, kicks to the face, slamming to the ground face first, etc.....Any defensive posture is also charged as resisting arrest or interering with a police officer.
100% punk ass move on the 1st cop’s part. Typical skin head, ‘roid raged a-hole pig.
And, the second “good cop” is just as guilty.
OTO you don't get people who don't WANT to do this sort of stuff applying for the job.
Stop moving when I kick you, stop twitching when I taze you, etc.. Obey my commands.. zapp
One of the reasons one of my brother-in-laws resigned from SFPD. Other cops were just too arrogant and doing things he did not think were right. He couldn't sleep well and decided he would get out. Much happier doing other types of work. Nice people need not apply for cop work today, it's changed.

What we have is one side of the story from a lawyer who has trouble expressing himself, and is attempting to try his case in the media rather than court.
Jorge Corona was accused of felony aggravated assault and battery. Clovis police responded to a call of a public fight, where a victim reports Corona tried to stab her husband with a screwdriver. When officers arrived on scene, they interviewed victims and witnesses, who said Corona began the fight after getting out of his truck and confronting the victim in his yard.A victim claims he tried to stop the fight, which caused Corona to drive off in his truck. Reports said Corona came back, this time, armed with a 8-10 inch screwdriver. Victims tell police he chased after them with the weapon.
My, my. Little George Corona sounds like a sweetheart.
