The Royal and Ancient Golf Club has voted in favour of allowing women members for the first time in its 260-year history.
The R&A's 2,400 members were entitled to vote and more than three-quarters of them took part in the ballot.
The vote was passed by a margin of 85%-15%.

Was watching BBC International earlier today. They had a report on about the poverty in Africa, where people earn less than $1 per day. The next story was about this golf club and their inhuman treatment. These wealthy women were complaining because they couldn’t become members of this golf club. Sure, there were plenty of other clubs they were free to join, but the fact that they couldn’t become members of this one club was simply intolerable. I guess they felt that their lives were worse than those in Africa.
I can only imagine the scene when the whisky wears off and they’re told what they did the day before.
I suppose you felt the same way about American blacks and restaurants, hotels, etc., here.
Yes, if they were private, membership only.
