For a brief moment, and I mean brief, all of us after the election had the idea that maybe we did elect someone who would change things for the good in the world, who would unite everyone. A Jackie Robinson for example. It took a couple weeks for all of us to shake our heads and realize that we would have to endure every single day a president who was an amateur and a narcissist. Charles, I’m sure, was as optimistic at first, and briefly. He was NEVER a Peggy Noonan who swooned over the guy, and who was totally taken in.

Most of us here at FR went to bed that night fully understanding that our nation had just tried to commit suicide and wondered how long the death would take, hoping that there would be some way to prevent our beloved country from the fate that we saw so clearly.
