I doubt if there is a law enforcement agency in this country that actually has a tank.

I was afraid this would happen. Now we will have an arms race among all the school districts. It will never end.

When the USAF finally lets go of the A-10, how many school districts, park rangers and parking patrols will get them?

Nothing says "No Parking" like a burst of 30 mm armor piercing rounds.

If it’s free, does that mean they should take it? No. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean a police force needs it.

The SWAT team is passé; now, PDs can go for a full blitzkrieg.

We aren’t going to be able to stop the proliferation of the military weapons to local police forces.

It’s important, however, to change those things we can, and in this case one thing to change is our perception of those weapons.

We need to begin thinking of them as resources for our side, resources being maintained and fueled for us to use when they are needed.

Bipartisan political folks would probably like to have those weapons for defending their offices against the Ebola virus, against the unworthy in general and defend their incomes from the austerity layoffs ahead (debt collapse). They have the political influence and legal immunity to have and do whatever they like for now. If they arm-up enough, they might try to enforce a continuation of the situation.

“To suggest that it’s a threatening type of equipment or equipment for a show of force – that is not the case,” Zipperman said.

Since the other alternative is that they actually think they have a use for it; that is less than reassuring.

To be fair, one of the very few school districts I could seriously imagine being able to justify having that stuff.
