Lets just say military vehicles in schools could somehow be justified which is impossible but I will play for now. First it was a ploy to sell the idea it came at no cost. What do you think maintenance on a vehicle like that will cost? You think they are going to drive it over to jiffy lube for an ok change? This vehicle will. Red to be kept in top running condition, you wanna pick up the tab for that? And what teacher is going to be qualified to drive an mrap when a gun shaped pop tart seems to scare the pants off them?
My knee-jerk response would be: Don’t worry; the school will soon discover the exorbitant O&M costs of an MRAP would eat up their budget, just like the Army and Marine Corps did. But then I realized that this is a California school district we’re talking about, and they don’t worry about controlling costs.
