People upset that a grandmother participating in drone protests was sentenced to a year in jail have fired off a series of angry e-mails directed at the judge who sent her to jail.
Several of the notes to DeWitt Town Judge David S. Gideon contained four-letter words, and one made anti-Semitic references against the judge who is Jewish. Another called him a "fascist."
"Would you please take early retirement soon and move to the country of your forebears?" reads one e-mail.
Another e-mail reads "Please convey to the Dishonorable David S. Gideon that he should go f--- himself for abusing the law, acting as a fascist and sentencing a 58-year-old grandmother to jail for a peaceful protest."
Gideon sentenced Mary Anne Grady-Flores, 58, of Ithaca to one year at the Onondaga County jail in DeWitt Town Court on July 11 after she was found guilty of violating an order of protection while protesting at Hancock Air Base.
The protesters are against the use of drones in military actions.
Grady-Flores was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on Feb. 13, 2013 after an order of protection was issued, barring her from going near Col. Earl Evans, the mission support group commander at the 174th Attack Wing of the New York Air National Guard, on Oct. 25, 2012. The protection order was valid for one year...
Grady-Flores was given a stay after a hearing and released from jail several days later, pending an appeal of her case.
The New York State Magistrates Association said it is fairly unusual for town justices to receive letters like this, with a "low percentage" receiving hate mail, said Amel Jowdy, president of the organization. which represents town and village justices statewide.
Gideon declined comment, saying he can't talk about ongoing cases.

City of evil bump
Well I guess they haven't been issuing rulings that go against the Will of the Liberal Lynch Mob then, because this is pretty much par for the course for the response that anyone gets who says or does something that displeases the Liberal Mob.
That she is a grandmother is irrelevant.
More often than not the word grandmother is included as if a 58 year whose children have children, should not be held accountable with jail time. Teens and grandmothers.
Just another pet peeve of mine.
This Syracuse newspaper link helps me choose what side of the barricade I chose to stand on.
A protection order? The judge should order the cops to toss her house (and business) to look for any weapons.
Amusing comments at site...
There’s young and dumb and there’s mature and stupid. One group should know better. They don’t so they can serve the full sentence as far as I’m concerned.
The woman was arrested and charged with a crime. She was found guilty of that crime and then sentenced. What exactly did these people want or expect?
My girlfriend in HS was a grandmother (not by me) when she was 35 years old.
That her parents became great grandparents at 55 must have been fun to see, what I wouldn’t have given to be a fly on the wall when they found out that news...
Ithaca, that explains alot.
N.B.: The woman was protesting military attacks against terrorists in other countries, a leftist thing. Therefore her antisemitic allies were also likely leftists.
“Ithaca, that explains a lot.”
Yeah, Cornell. Another “college town.”
