Didn’t they try that already? The Coffee Party was about as effective as Air America, and for much the same reason.
They tried that. The “Coffee Party” failed miserably.
AstroTurf, rent a mob, Rich dems buying 'the look'...
So what is she really looking for? I think I know. She wants real people who care. Unfortunately those types can't be bought by liberal elite fat cats... there will never be a left wing 'tea party'...
Many years ago - 40 or 50 years ago - I had a friend who was a 'community organizer'. He was disheartened that he was only able to sign up students... and couldn't get 'workers'... (Community organizers back then were what we call 'communists'...) Anyhow, the woman who wrote this has that same 'feel' to her lament... she can't get the 'workers'... the everyday Americans. And like my friend learned it's because everyday Americans are too smart to buy into liberal elite foolishness...
“Warren represents the anti-compromisethe strong-on-every-issue true believer who is such a star now among political progressives in large part because shes so damn rare. Perhaps as a left we should spend less time condemning each other for failing to hew to our particular litmus tests, behavior that at the least amounts to a counter-productive circular firing squad and at worst suggests that, say, economic populism is more of a true progressive issue than reproductive freedom. Instead, the various parts of the progressive electoral infrastructure should criticize each other less and collaborate morepooling criteria and cash to back more Warren types who score well on all our issues, ultimately forcing politics and politicians to yield to our agenda rather than all-too-often the other way around.”
The above paragraph caught my eye as some talk about the Pubbies’ circular firing squad. I think it could be changed to:
Cruz represents the anti-compromisethe strong-on-every-issue true believer who is such a star now among political conservatives in large part because hes so damn rare. Perhaps as a right we should spend less time condemning each other for failing to hew to our particular litmus tests, behavior that at the least amounts to a counter-productive circular firing squad and at worst suggests that, say, economic stability and freedom is more of a true conservative issue than pro-life freedom, illegal immigration and/or gun rights [add - IMHO they’re all important]. Instead, the various parts of the GOPe electoral infrastructure should criticize each other and conservatives and TEA Party types less and collaborate morepooling criteria and cash to back more Cruz, Lee and Sessions types who score well on all our issues, ultimately forcing politics and politicians to yield to our agenda rather than all-too-often the other way around.
It doesn't look like she has any real answers. She sees factionalism as a problem but doesn't provide any way to overcome it.
I think I know. She wants real people who care. Unfortunately those types can't be bought by liberal elite fat cats... there will never be a left wing 'tea party'...
She may be thinking about people who become labor organizers or community organizers or activists. There aren't enough people like that to win elections (outside Vermont maybe) and they don't have enough money to make much of a difference.
The positions you mentions are all PAID positions. This isn't the 60's...
