In January 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a key decision in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. The decision removed unconstitutional restrictions on the ability to speak freely at election time of grassroots groups like NRA and others. But now, some are trying to reverse the decision--and while they recognize that they must amend the Constitution to do so, their amendment would gut the First Amendment rights of organized political groups as we know them.
The late Sen. Paul Wellstone had said during the original debate over the legislation at issue in Citizens United that it was his intention to silence groups like the NRA. While Wellstone singled out the NRA, this law delivered a clear message to all American citizens: "Keep your mouths shut and stay out of our politics."
The court declared unconstitutional the parts of the law that had been enacted for the explicit purpose of silencing the NRA and its members. Of course, the gun-banners in the White House and Congress opposed the decision because it thwarted their plans.

Apparently, Reid has zero idea how Constitutional amendments happen.....hit-not from the senate floor
What are the chances that Senate Joint Resolution 19 might pass? If they are as low as I think they are, then this is just a fundraising plea.
With bearded barbarians among us and ISIS knocking on the door, now is not the time to disarm the American people or screw with the 2nd Amendment.
Technically, MF’er is two words combined, but that’s the word I would use ;)
Scheisskopf!
I can describe Harry Reid with 1 finger.
MF is technically not a word. It has letters but is categorized as an acronym.
LOL - I believe the NRA supported Senator Reid in his last election. Thats’s when I stopped supporting the NRA.
Only compound words come to mind.
The NRA endorsed Harry Reid in 2010 and helped him get reelected.
I’ll just be glad when I read his obituary and his gravestone should read ASSHOLE.
Well lol , has anyone thought of stopping Harry or is he king also.
Oh, right, this is a liberal proposal, so taxes will continue, unions can use the government to enforce the collection of money to use for political speech, and conservative groups are targeted.
Ahh well. Oh, look, another day, and liberals still only hold to one standard: double standards.
Why isn’t this bass turd in prison? He would be if he was a Republican.
Sometimes I believe Harry Reid would be happier living in North Korea as a military leader where he could wield his power, stop anyone from doing anything, and kill anyone whom he dislikes.
If it doesn’t, I’d happily make the trip with a hammer and chisel.
Doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance...
