Read Russia’s Ominous Response to NATO’s Rapid Reaction Force
The PJ Tatler ^ | September 5, 2014 | Bryan Preston

During today’s NATO summit, the alliance agreed to create a rapid reaction force to respond to threats to member states.

That force is being formed specifically to deal with threats in eastern Europe. It is a direct response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The Russians responded swiftly. The Foreign Ministry suggests a larger NATO conspiracy is at work.

The summit adopted a line towards NATO’s eastward expansion and build-up of its presence near Russia’s borders. These plans were nurtured for a long time and the Ukrainian crisis became merely an excuse for the start of their implementation.

Russia also accused NATO of “escalating tensions.”

The gist and tone of statements on the situation around Ukraine and the announced plans of NATO countries to conduct a joint drill with Ukraine on its territory before the end of this year are bound to escalate tensions, threaten the start of progress regarding a peaceful settlement in Ukraine and contribute to the deepening of the split in Ukrainian society. Moreover, they testify to NATO’s unreserved support for Kiev’s neo-Nazi and extremist forces, including the Right Sector.

Having Godwined themselves, the Russians hint that they might withdraw from the 1997 NATO-Russia Council.

We will analyse in detail the summit’s specific decisions. In part, we will review them to establish if they correspond with the provisions of the 1997 Russia-NATO Founding Act and other fundamental agreements on European security.

Yes, we have quite a formidable force in those countries /s.

Fact is NATO has been disarming for 25 years, unlike Russia. Their trash about being afraid of "NATO Encroachment" is just nonsense. The truth is, Russia is being aggressive because NATO and the United States in particular are weakening.

Thank God that someone is standing up to Russia’s cheap ride.

Considering one NATO uint is probably worth at least 5 equivalent Russian units, I think the balance of forces is more in our favor (in terms of defense) than the chart suggests.

The real reason Putin is aggressive is because he know without US leadership, NATO will do nothing, and right now, there is a complete lack of leadership from Zero.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama were negotiating away Ukrainian territory with Putin behind everyone's back, although the US representatives might trip over diplomats from Germany's foreign office doing exactly the same thing.

By the way, this is a smaller, quicker, 48 hour reaction force, NATO already has a larger “reaction force” and has had for some time.

The French and British armies combined were much more powerful than the German Wehrmacht in 1940, too.

LOL, Russia isn’t superior to the United States, much less combined with Great Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, and 22 more NATO nations.

Why would you imply that it is, it almost sounded like a hope.

Commercial airliners across the region should proceed with great caution.

Don’t be like “you-know-who” here who accuses any and all people who disagree with him of being “Putin’s butt-boys” and all that nonsense. You’re better than that. What I said was true, yet France was conquered, Britain was humiliated and the Nazis took possession of most of Europe. It was **that close** and without the USA Hitler’s party would still rule there.

What you said was odd, and out of place, irrelevant, the only possible relevance would have been to bolster up the image of Russian capabilities to the uninformed.

The 766,000 person Russian military is not the WWII Wehrmacht, and are not superior to the United States alone, much less combined with Great Britain, France, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, and 22 more NATO nations.

WWII Wehrmacht didn’t have tactical and strategic Nuclear weapons.

Out current CIC will NOT authorize use of nukes under any circumstance, Russia knows this. Russia has no such hesitance.

Do you have ANY IDEA how few divisions we field right now? And then deduct those in Afghanistan and Korea. Numbers, though, don’t tell the whole story. Russia has even more nuclear weapons than we do and we’ve never directly fought another nuclear power on the field of battle. If that doesn’t scare you, you’re not paying attention.

As of right now, the active US Army consists of 546,047 Active personnel. So yes, 766,000 does outnumber us.

Gee, facing a nuclear threat from the Russians, yeah, I remember that. We have been for 60 years, what is a fact today, is that we face a greatly weakened Russia, without it's attack capabilities of old, and man do they have worries if they over extend or severely damage their military and use up their military and weapons stocks.

We have proven over an over that we can project force with a military that can travel and fight anywhere on the globe, and dominate the oceans and the skies, and the ground.

So in your mind, we are going to be defeated by Russia within the next two years.

Don’t lose sleep over the Obama apologist types claiming that our GUTTED MILITARY can defeat the recently-modernized Russian military, in Russia’s backyard.

I think it’s a play to keep us asleep through 2016, so CONSERVATIVES don’t make an issue about just how ROTTED our capabilities are, compared to what they had been.

As I have for months, I will continue to point out the need to STRENGTHEN our military, particularly if we want to have any capability to project power.

If we take on Russia with Obama as the CiC, we will not do well.

The best we can hope is to keep the fighting off US soil, and delay until we can get competent leadership for our country.

Do not forget, Obama can order our military to stand down, no matter what happens.

He has already stated he would absorb a nuke first strike, then sue for peace. Does that sound like a winning hand to you?
