Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson on ISIL: ‘Convert them or kill them’
Politico ^ | 09/04/2014 | By JONATHAN TOPAZ

“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has a prescription for how to handle Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants: “Convert them or kill them.”

Appearing on Fox News on Tuesday evening, the reality television personality quoted several verses from the Bible and asked why ISIL harbors hatred for the U.S. even as the military has increasingly withdrawn from the region.

Host Sean Hannity argued that ISIL is “at war with us” and creates a significant threat to the U.S. and Israel, regardless of how the Obama administration or the American people view the group.

“You either have to convert them — which I think would be next to impossible. I’m not giving up on them, but I’m just saying, either convert them or kill them,” Robertson responded, likening ISIL militants to “street thugs on steroids.”

Leave it to politico to cherrypick a fraction of the video, at 5:40 Phil clarifies his statement. If you have 8 minutes, the complete vid is worth a look:

Clarifying my point a bit: the short version, they either convert to a different way of thinking that doesn’t involving killing all non-muslims, or we have no choice but to defend ourselves, which means destroying them root and branch.

Would converting one of them (however unlikely) after all his atrocities spare him the penalty for his crimes?

Not as simple of a question as it sounds. Conversion would save an ISIS terrorist from eternal damnation in Hell, yes. Though the Bible speaks of eternal rewards for doing good in our lives. I suspect said terrorist convert would not have much in the way of eternal reward.

It does NOT absolve him from paying for his crimes before the civil authorities, unless God wills it (and if God wills it, it will work out however it needs to for God's will to happen).

His solution is correct. Since the Muslims have always (as Mohammed taught by example) sought to either convert under threat of death, enslave, and/or murder everyone they come in contact with, the only defense is to either convert them away from that demonic religion (little hope there for most), or you have to kill them in self-defense to stop them from killing you.

But "progressives" / Marxists don't want to believe that there are people who are willing to die to kill you. They think singing "Kumbaya" will solve all the world's problems. It will not. EVER. Progs would rather see a woman strangled by her own panty hose and raped to death by filthy Muslims than see her defend herself with righteous violence.

We don’t need to go to ‘war’ with them... we need to simply kill them. A large bomb - no ‘surgical’ air strikes. Maybe a small nuke. We can’t ‘play at war’ with this group. We have the power to kill them - and that’s what needs to happen.

Beware! When Muslims convert to Christianity it is usually not sincere, but a lie to bring about the caliphate.

Why do you think there are no massive permanent conversions historically of Muslims to Christianity?

“Convert them or kill them” sounds like something ISIS would say. It plays into MSM hands as they would love to say Robertson and Christians are just like ISIS. But Robertson is not recommending any forced conversions or beheadings. He is suggesting Christians like himself reach out to them which is what we are called to do. Of course that would have to be done very carefully to ensure one’s head is left intact. :-)

There is a separate matter of what governments should do and this is independent of what Christian individuals do. The US military is not charged with forced conversions to any particular religion. The US military should be focused on killing terrorists.

I see nothing wrong with his solution.

I do. You can’t ‘convert’ anyone to Christianity….One has to come to Christ on her/his own volition and open her/his hearts to Him on a strictly voluntarily basis. To ‘convert someone’ has the intonation of force behind it and that excludes it from Christianity by definition. Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him…” To be a Christian does NOT happen at the will of someone else…. it only can happen when one voluntarily repents of their sins and asks for Christ’s forgiveness ‘and opens the door’.

On a related matter, I attended a church event a while ago where the issue of ‘reaching out to Muslims’ was discussed. Here’s the primary obstacle….. As theists, Islam is simply not open to any level of outside criticism. There is none of the ‘let us reason through these matters’ concept that is spoken about in the New Testament. In fact, of all the ‘religions’ of the world, Islam is one that absolutely forbids their people from even talking to Christians to hear what they have to say concerning spiritual matter. It’s one thing to reject what somebody has to say…..it’s totally another thing to not even be allowed to hear the point of view.

RE: Sounds like he is Muslim.

The main difference is in the understanding of the word “conversion”.

National Review has kicked its own a$$ so many times since Buckley died, it hardly makes a difference.

No, the main version is nowhere in Christianity is the idea that the people should be killed to force them to convert. Some Christians are importing Muslim concepts into Christianity, and are okay with that.

“National Review”

An organization that claims conservatism but is moderate: Meaning, they stand for nothing that requires strength.
