Democratic nominee Chad Taylor drops out of Kansas Senate race

Democratic nominee Chad Taylor dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate in Kansas on Wednesday, an 11th hour move that could clear the way for his party to rally behind and independent candidate and potentially change the math in the battle for the Senate majority.

Taylor, who raised little money and had not gained traction in the campaign, submitted a letter to the Kansas secretary of state's office that said he was withdrawing from the contest, without providing any further information. An e-mail to his spokesman seeking more information on why he bowed out was not immediately returned.

The move, which came on the last day for ballot changes, could clear the way for Democrats to rally behind Greg Orman, an independent candidate who has left the door open to caucusing with both parties if elected. Orman, who used to be a Democrat and a Republican, has been viewed as a more viable opponent against Sen. Pat Roberts (R), who polls show is vulnerable. Orman has raised a lot more money than Taylor.

I will vote for Abbot, and several other conservative republicans. Just no liberal republicans.

And there will be more than dem and pub on my ballot for almost every race.

I won't vote for any liberals.

I would vote for a conservative democrat, but there don't appear to be any running. Damn few conservative republicans.

The country is being destroyed by liberal republicans that seduce you with their (R), and then vote to advance Reid's liberal agenda.

I am helping out.

I'm doing everything in my power to politically destroy liberal republicans and ensure that they never, ever win election again.

Especially the liberal republican party leadership, like McConnell, Cornyn, and Bohnear.

You can thank me when the only republicans that can get elected are conservative.

It won't be soon, but it will happen.

Gov. Brownback was saying on the radio today that the plan was wait until after the primary to withdraw to ensure no other Dem could get in the race, thus leaving an "indy" to try to beat the RINO. Brownback was confident the "indy" radical liberal's record would be properly demonstrated.

Kansas may have elected a few dems in their time, but this should be a tough year to pull that off.

There is a big difference between the liberal Libertarian party, and classical libertarians.

Geo Washington, and Reagan considered themselves classical libertarians.

They damn sure wouldn't have been part of today's Libertarian party.

No, it won't.

You are complaining because the republicans are having a really hard time getting elected unless they are sure-enough conservative.

It won't be long, and nothing worth while is won in a day.

I'm in it for the long haul.

I'm not emotional about it, I just want all the liberal republican bastards fired and not electable.

It's that simple.

Well, you certainly debate like a liberal Democrat. Thank you for continually proving my points. Also, work on your reading comprehension.. I’ve never watched NASCAR nor do I care to. No cable here.. I unplugged that long ago.

Perhaps instead of trying to attack me you should try and address the points being made. That is if you have the intelligence to do so....

Thanks! :)

I didn't say that they thought themselves like the Libertarian party. I said they thought of themselves as classical libertarians.

That has nothing to do with pot or abortion.

You don't seem to make a distinction, but you always were a little slow on the uptake.

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is." -- Ronald Reagan, 1975, Reason Magazine.

Truly not interested in your analysis of what you think my politics are, just interested in a straightforward answer. Exactly how liberal can a Republican be and still get your vote? Amnesty? Abortion? Gun control? My libertarian leanings are the same as the founders, not the “L” party. My Christianity is between me and my Creator.

Then get rid of the uppercase L on your homepage.

That is the liberal party. Not the classical political philosophy.

If something is going to crash, it will still crash even if you try and slow it down. The end result is the same. I'd rather get the crash over with rather than slowly and painfully getting there. Once we crash, we can begin to rebuild. Are you not the one who said something along the lines of....
