Africa is a lost cause.

The most humane policy would be to let the population die back to a level that can be supported by the local agriculture and food resources.

Food relief keeps people alive who cannot feed themselves

That enables them to have more babies they can't feed

Those babies grow up to be adults who cannot feed themselves.

And on and on and on...

That policy is neither humane nor in our best interest. Letting the disease grow unchecked increases the likelihood that it will spread to here. And it increases the likelihood that it will mutate into ever more infectious forms.

Better to put in quarantines and offer relief efforts to keep it contained.

The Food Luddites, and there is a Free Republic contingent, have managed to place a ban of GMO seeds for all but 4 African countries.
