I was also impressed by how the rest of Joy Division recovered from Ian's suicide. They were arguably the best to come out of the UK in the 1980s, Bizarre Love Triangle notwithstanding. I strongly suspect that Perfect Kiss was about Ian, and 1963 makes my mind race because I still haven't figured it out.

"Bizarre Love Triangle" (the radio version, not one of the endless remixes") has always been a song I don't seek out, but I won't change the channel if it comes on. I'll even catch myself lip-syncing to the words like David Spade and Chris Farley in Tommy Boy. Pretty much the same for all of New Order's material - I liked them more than The Smiths, but for that kind of music I turned to The Cure and Depeche Mode.

Every single one of those emo bands was less self-indulgent and did less navel-gazing than Roger Waters, sad to say - and that's including even Morrissey.
