The oil and gas industry is the most dynamic industry in the U.S. and will remain so for a long time, according to T. Boone Pickens, chairman of BP Capital Management, who spoke Monday during Gov. Tom Corbett's Jobs 1st Summit in Pittsburgh.
"What an opportunity for our country with 30 of our states being producing states," he said.
Pickens said the country should take advantage of its energy resources and convert its fleet of commercial heavy-duty trucks over to natural gas. And it should form a strategic energy alliance with Canada and Mexico.
Those two things he said could end the country's dependence on OPEC oil, he said.
Pickens also noted Pennsylvania's natural gas production is quickly approaching that of Texas. He said that is due in part to Corbett's leadership.
Good. The Dems in this state are salivating over their boy, Wolf. Corbett is still a longshot, though.
What is driving the Wolf support?
They can build a pipeline to my house in NH anytime.
Current price for heating oil $3.59/gallon, wood pellets $237/ton, dry cordwood $260/128 cu feet.
I realize there are some nuts out in western Mass that do not want a gas pipeline to go through their property or town. That is fine I guess if that is their choice, but I would like to see those people get ALL their energy from solar panels, windmills, and geothermal. I wish there was a way for the power suppliers to limit these green types to ONLY their renewable energy they love so much. Maybe a few cold January nights in the dark would “enlighten” them.
Do you imagine trying to get major energy projects like the Hoover dam or the Robert Moses Niagara Falls power projects done today.
They can’t even get windmills built in Nantucket Sound because it was going to ruin the view of a bunch of rich people on Cape Cod.
Now we have people in Coos County NH that do not want a power line going through their area because it will ruin their view.
And wolf wants to curtail jobs and employment and dependency on foriegn oil by higher taxes to support education. Azzhole.
Some is cumulative. He tried to get rid of the liquor Control Board..again (heavily union). Working on pension reform...(Teacher’s union). Got voter I.D. passed and a Philly federal judge overturned just a month before the 2012 election.
Wolf also has the $$$$ backing from that cretin, Tom Steyer.
That and a hug dose of voter stupidity. Corbett isn’t the best...but why go back to a Rendell leftover?
Corbett needs to start landing some hard punches if he is going to have any chance to survive. He should start with these questions:
Meanwhile, our property taxes (Something rendell "promised" to get rid of if we only elected HIM!) will still continue to rise.
Really??? How can that be? Texas has Eagle Ford, Permian, and Barnett.
“They” are drilling everywhere and “spidering” the wells. I have two pads within five miles of my home (side note, if you’re not paying attention, you wouldn’t even know the pads we’re there. They do a nice job not being noticed.).
Barnett is mostly dry gas production and has not been a significant target for drilling for a while.

Eagle Ford and Permian activity has been more focused on oil production.

Texas is growing fast in oil and growing slower in gas, a lot of the gas production growth has come from associated production with liquids.
Marcellus has primarily been a target for Gas Production but they will take any liquids they can find. Most of the Marcellus production has been in PA.

Don’t worry. Governor Tom Wolfe will be bringing that to a screeching halt soon enough.
