Crist makes Florida comeback bid as 4 states vote

Former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist continued his political comeback Tuesday as Democratic voters selected him as their nominee to challenge Republican Gov. Rick Scott in Florida, one of four states where voters were choosing candidates for statewide office.

Crist easily defeated former state Sen. Nan Rich, while Scott coasted in his own primary toward a general election matching the state’s last two Republican governors. Both have struggled with sagging approval ratings and run-ins with conservatives.

“It’s a wonderful night,” Crist declared after accepting a concession call from Rich.

Crist said the strong showing is a sign that Democrats believe in him. “Frankly, I think I was on their side when I was in the other party,” he said as he prepared a victory speech. He said a friend once told him, “‘Charlie, you’ve been a Democrat your whole life; you just didn't know it.’ Well, now I know it.” …

I wonder if Crist may be able to pull this off? Then he and boonbeam can hang together and further destroy the country.

Sign of the times people...

You just can’t get rid of these undeserving people that want to hold great power over people’s lives. Crist is one nasty creepy critter (he lies) or as my neighbor says of him; Crist is a political slime ball..

This time since Crist loves the spotlight, I think he would do anything to get back in it. He sold his soul already by pretending to millions that he was a conservative person. What does he have left? Certainly not, integrity.

Like for example, I am getting his political junk mail already. How he once supported traditional marriage; now he’s for same sex (on paper only) you got to me kidding me to call that marriage.

How will Morgan and Morgan ever survive if Crist leaves?

At least he’s wearing his true colors: opportunistic chameleon.

Scott’s going to have a hard time beating Crist.

The Florida teachers hate Scott. They blame him for taking money out of their pockets by making them contribute to their retirement plan.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on a Crist victory.

So Florida’s gainful employment consists only of teachers and their unions?

The teacher lobbies are very powerful in Florida. There are certainly more teachers than any other profession. They teachers unions have already started to run anti-Scott ads.

The polls show Crist with a comfortable lead.

Quinnipiac 7/17 - 7/21 1251 RV 2.8 40 45 Crist +5

according to realclearpolitics.com polls

In JULY that may have been true, but now as of 8/18 it is Scott(R) up by 3.

Few people trust crist except for homosexuals, tax and spend teachers, and the zombie democrats.

florida is a right to work state.

The teacher unions do not have as much power as in other states. They can growl about pay but not much since there are lines waiting to replace each and every one of them.

I hope Scott wins, but again I wouldn’t bet on it.

I live in Florida. My wife is a teacher who is very conservative and who voted for Scott. But this time she won’t be voting for Scott and thinks I’m nuts for voting for him.

In addition to the teachers, the media in Florida is clearly anti-Scott — both print and TV.

The one thing I am 100% sure of is that this is going to be a very dirty election.

So she’s very conservative and is voting for Crist. That’s self-contradictory.

That’s self-contradictory.

Actually, it's just the reality that the pocket-book beats ideology most of the time.

Florida teachers hate Scott with a passion and won't be quiet about it.

That’s not the pocketbook, though. That would be emotional argument, if they fall for it.

And Crist would make them pay more. Never mind that: did they completely forget about Crist vetoing the tenure bill four years ago?
