One can imagine the thought that comes to mind.
Interesting article, all about our so called allies.
While I was reminded last night on another thread who won the war of 1812 is a subject of debate, we still won the war that mattered. A victory we celebrate every July 4th.
I was not offended. It made me laugh.
I’m over it. Let the Brits have their sparklers.
I understand the sentiment.

Why? Bet a lot of people are thinking that the last few years.
Well Obama inspires this lack of respect.
Also since Obama acts as if the Constitution is a bothersome document getting in his way then what’s the problem with the brits honoring Ross...I bet Obama wishes they were successful!
Knowing what Obama thinks of the Brits, I am quite sure the British would like to burn the White House again - with its present occupants in it.
That’s okay. A few days later we killed Gen. Ross at North Point Nd stopped them cold in Baltimore. Bottom line: We kicked their asses twice and saved their asses twice in major conflicts.
Burning the White Hut down seems like the kind of celebration Bammy would like.
it’s all in good fun..
They may have been the first and only but they won’t be the last. Besides, I am sure it is all in god fun. Losers of that war need to have something to perk themselves up. (hehe)
Read comments on another source about the tweets and the cake. Most were “get over it” because of Brit humor (with which I totally agree).
Ironically, I watched the John Adams HBO series last weekend and then read about the burning. A post from Free Republic mentioned the storm that came up and put out the fire.
Today, don’t know if God would do the same.
Shouldn’t have sent back that Churchill bust.
I have a BBQ every Aug 6 and Aug 9th.
That’s OK. We have a bigger party each July 4th.
1) Returned the Churchill bust.
2) Gave a CD of Movie classics to a legally blind PM
3) Gave the Queen a CD of his own speeches
This sums up Obama and his feelings for the brits:
And the Brits response is pretty much the same.
Hey, any way we could convince them to do it again?
I think it’s great that some group of government employees out there still have a sense of humor.
The White House and all other government buildings were legitimate targets during the War of 1812. The British burned it in retaliation for American forces burning a British town in present day Canada. There’s nothing for the British embassy to regretful about. After all, that was 200 years ago. That was also the last time we fought each other... except for the Pig War on San Juan Island, but only the pig died then.
