FERGUSON, Mo. It was 1 a.m. and Michael Brown Jr. called his father, his voice trembling. He had seen something overpowering. In the thick gray clouds that lingered from a passing storm this past June, he made out an angel. And he saw Satan chasing the angel and the angel running into the face of God. Mr. Brown was a prankster, so his father and stepmother chuckled at first.
No, no, Dad! No! the elder Mr. Brown remembered his son protesting. Im serious.
And the black teenager from this suburb of St. Louis, who had just graduated from high school, sent his father and stepmother a picture of the sky from his cellphone. Now I believe, he told them.
In the weeks afterward, until his shooting death by Darren Wilson, a white police officer, on Aug. 9, they detected a change in him as he spoke seriously about religion and the Bible. He was grappling with lifes mysteries.
Michael Brown, 18, due to be buried on Monday, was no angel, with public records and interviews with friends and family revealing both problems and promise in his young life....

Problems and promise, somehow promise was invented by the scumedia to make him appear to be on the right path, the video is evidence as to what path he was on but the scumedia refuse to see it or aceept it
The majority of Americans make the serious mistake of trying to judge the actions and intentions of “that” culture by standards we strive to live by and that have made America an exception. Look at what goes on in any sub-Saharan African country, by that scale they ain’t half so bad here.
BIG BARF!
You are a man? Really?
Then GET A JOB!
Jedi—my post was to the “man” in the photo, who apparently has a lot of time on his hands.
Oh, puuuuuuleeeeeese!!!! Most likely he was high from smoking several blunts and drinking some 45’s. These people are too much. The guy was a thug and without appropriate parental guidance most of his life. Now he’s a saint?????
If this boy had found God, or Jesus, then why was he doing a smash & grab at a convenience store for a box a Swisher Sweets?
This boy was just a larger version of St. Skittles. Again we are being treated to the canonization of a lowlife gangster wannabe into a modern civil rights hero.
Yet the stubborn fact remains that he was another ‘hood rat headed for an early grave by one of his own. Yet his demise was hastened by his own actions with respect to Officer Wilson.
I would bet that his actions regards Officer Wilson was that he was in possession of stolen property, and knew that he was going to do jail time if he was arrested, even if Office Wilson was unaware of his previous activities. So when confronted by an on duty police officer he tries to strong arm that police officer as he has had success with that strategy elsewhere.
NYT- canonization is just one of its many services.
How many miracles do we need. I am sure we can get him through the rites of the Catholic Church too.
According to my thesis, we should be able to have him canonized by the Christmas shopping season.
Now if we can only get that white cop lynched.
(Must I add a sarcasm tag to this?)
The Transfiguration of St. Michael Brown (sarcasm).
Sounds either schizophrenia or bipolar.
At first I thought you said “Here comes the defecation of Michael Brown”. It made sense.
after grappling with demons and losing.
Then the clouds parted and he heard a loud voice in a beam of light commanding him to go to a corner convenience store and liberate a box of cigarillos. “But why me, Lord,” he asked. “I am unworthy of this honor. Surely thou hast a better champion than I.”
“Verily, thou art six foot four and nigh unto three hundred pounds and can easily intimidate the pipsqeak clerk. And if a man of the law should confront thee, forsooth thou should run at him like a raging beast and overpower him and bust him up real bad.”
“Thy will be done, O Most High.”
Well said.
Anybody else - or at least anybody white - who showed even a remote interest in religion and/or the bible would be treated by the NYTimes as a contemptible idiot. The reporter must have swallowed hard to make this into a plus for St. Michael.
I’m gagging here. The hypocrisy is astonishing.
“There were times when her son would talk back, Ms. McSpadden said. She relied on family and friends, including a retired juvenile officer, to help mentor her son.”
I raised 5 kids and never had to rely on outsiders to help “mentor” them because they talked back.. What on earth is wrong with these people?
I see by the little logo at the bottom of the posters those people are holding, that they were produced in a union printshop.
