The sign said Yield Sneakers Bacon: i.e., yield to the allure of the delicious bacon at Sneakers Bistro. But in the end it was the operators of Sneakers who yielded. For them, diversity means making the world a bit less diverse, by yielding to the Islamic supremacist demand that Infidels must conform their behavior to Muslim sensibilities. Remember the ironclad and ever-reinforced principle: in Muslim countries, non-Muslims must change their behavior to avoid offending Muslims. And in non-Muslim countries, non-Muslims must change their behavior to avoid offending Muslims.
Advertisement removed after resident expresses offense, by Hannah McDonald, WPTZ.com, August 23, 2014 (thanks to JJ):
WINOOSKI, Vt. A sign on a lamp post at the bottom of the Winooski Circle displayed the words Yield Sneakers Bacon until Friday morning. The bistro owners took it down.
It got there as part of Operation Bloom.
A city program put it in place to keep its flower beds beautiful. If businesses do some gardening they can post an advertisement where they do it, but the word bacon on the Sneakers Bistro sign started a discussion about diversity on the Winooski Front Porch Forum.
It started with a post from one woman who wrote that the sign was insensitive to those who do not consume pork. She said as a Muslim she is personally offended by it.
The owners of Sneakers spoke to WPTZ. They say theyve reached out to the individual who made the post and proactively took the sign down. They also say they regret any harm caused by the sign, and that their goal was never to cause stress or bad feelings.
Its nice that they were respectful enough to take it down, said Caleb Wiley an area resident, but I also think they shouldnt have, or had to at any right.
Other Winooski residents joined the conversation, and online too. One post reads the word bacon is not offensive. Its something that describes food.
Winooskis city manager spoke on behalf of the city. She said:
The cool part of living in a diverse community is that its not always comfortable. Its a fascinating place with lots of opportunities for conversation. The City has to pay attention to a lot of factors while acting within what we can regulate, said Katherine Deac Decarreau.
Others recognize its a complicated issue, too.
I respect her religion and her right to believe what she wants but Im pretty sure the first amendment extends to bacon and the selling of it.
Sneakers owners say their goal is to provide a joyful place for the entire community.
The Winooski Islamic Community Center was not available for comment.
boycott or find somewhere else to eat bacon
Is that why it's cool for Muslims to be uncomfortable, "Deac"?
Oh I forgot, you mean it's cool for Americans to be uncomfortable with city governments catering to sharia intolerance by stepping on First Amendment rights.
Right?
Screw Vermont and all that reside therein. Too over the top in everything except cows. We would be better served if the state was ceded over to Canada.

My Allah... Bacon offended her? You live in Vermont lady. Vermont is known as a place where you can hike the Long Trail nude, where you can Skinnydip most places (the Mecca of New England nudists is The Ledges in Wilmington, Vermont.) and in the state’s biggest city there is an annual nude bicycle race every June.
This really pisses me off. Why should this woman respect her (the moozies) religion when the moozie doesn't respect hers? It's a one way street with the Muslims. Screw them.
It was not too many years ago when I thought Americans were far too strong, too independent, and too full of vinegar and grit, to bow down and grovel before all this kind of Orwellian, cultural-imposed mindthink via political correctness and thought-police. Where every objection from every loony dingbat apparently carries the weight of the world, and must be catered to.
But everyday, the proof like this belies all that. Maybe I’m just too often thinking of the older generations when I’m defining “Americans” in my mind’s eye. People who are now actually mostly deceased. Because I know my parents, grandparents, their peers, would never be such out-and-out COWARDS as these so-called “Americans” I constantly see in these reported situations nowadays, who sink down and surrender to every ludicrous bit of pressure.
Australian Prime Minister and Muslims
He’s done it again..
http://www.armsmart.com/includes/emails/Kevin_Rudd2.html
He sure isn’t backing down on his hard line stance and one has to appreciate his belief in the rights of his native countrymen. A breath of fresh air to see someone lead. I wish some leaders would step up in Canada & USA . This man should be appointed King of the World ... truer words have never been spoken.
It took a lot of courage for this man to speak what he had to say for the world to hear. The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least he was willing to take a stand on his and Australia ‘s beliefs. Whole world needs a leader like this!
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..
Separately, Rudd angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. Quote:
‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.
‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom’
‘We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!’
‘Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.’
‘We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’
‘This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’
‘If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.’
Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves in Canada & USA , WE will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths.
Apparently, bearing discomfort is not a two-way street.
No way! Please don’t defile the bacon with Mustard! Mayonnaise only on the BLT. :)
After the introduction it get's really good.
I am offended that complaining moozlum complained. Does she have her clitorous lopped-off? If not...why not?
Give them an inch and they want a mile. There will be more
Winooski is like just adjacent to Burlington, like on the north side IIRC. Would you expect anything less from that whole neighborhood?
I don't care for sushi, so should I be offended by seeing sushi restaurants?
behead those who advertise sushi!
America started going dhimmi on 9/12
Need to get the bitch to read and verbally repeat my tag line 10,000 times.
cant we all just get along?
No.
All muhhamedan animals out of USA.
islam is a terrorist death cult and criminal enterprise, the most dangerous faction on the planet, and an existential threat to the American public.
"In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth.
Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust, by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind.
THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE
Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extinction of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men.
The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every mans hand against him. It is, indeed, amongst the mysterious dealings of God, that this delusion should have been suffered for so many ages, and during so many generations of human kind, to prevail over the doctrines of the meek and peaceful and benevolent Jesus" (Blunt, 1830, 29:269, capitals in orig.).
