Remember that scene in Minority Report, where Tom Cruise is on the run from the law, but is unable to avoid detection because everywhere he goes there are constant retina scans feeding his location back to a central database? Thats tomorrow. Today, Google is tracking wherever your smartphone goes, and putting a neat red dot on a map to mark the occasion.
You can find that map here. All you need to do is log in with the same account you use on your phone, and the record of everywhere youve been for the last day to month will erupt across your screen like chicken pox.

“You have no history for August 22”
Looks like I don’t have any history of my movements. Not that they would tell me about. The NSA knows everything anyway.

Guess being a troglodyte that does not carry any sort of cell phone has advantages?

Here’s a real simple solution: Open up the settings for your Android/Google based smart phone and uncheck all boxes for GPS tracking and cell signal tracking. Whenever an app asks to turn these back on, click “decline.”
That’s what I do and when I followed the link in the article to the Google map to see where I’ve been for the last 30 days, the map is void of any evidence of my travels.
If you have a sudden need to use your smart phone map, then turn on the GPS tracking functions and then when you are done using the map, turn the GPS tracking off again.
It’s that simple.
I use google maps fairly often. What I don’t do is sign in to the program, and I don’t let it automatically use my location.
I just checked, and it has nothing on me. Don’t log in, and you will have nothing on you too.
no smartphone.
can’t track w/out battery in them.
