Only reason I see for GE to do this would be to sabotage from the inside, then offer to broker a “deal” with the us gov for a us aircraft..

Yes, I'm sure that GE isn't interested in selling more engines, but would rather sabotage a Korean aircraft with export potential just so more American aircraft (which GE doesn't build) can be sold. Brilliant deduction.
