Once you accept the actual explanation the rest falls into place. The President is a Moslem. Much of his administration is Moslem. The rest of it is Leftist and Leftists are sympathetic to Moslems for several reasons. The idealists among them, and there are a couple, believe that they must always help the underdog and Moslems are always, by definition, the underdog because their whole religious and social system is inferior to everyone else and because they are almost all poor. To the rest of the Left, the great majority, Islam actually installs and runs the sort of State and Society that Leftists dream of. And they think they can let the Moslems destroy the enemies of their Progressive dream and then the Left will finish off the Moslems.
Leftists can't figure out that if Islam does prevail it will because the USA and all other sources of the strength on which the Left actually depends will not be a functioning force any more and the Left will all lose their heads or convert or maybe both as the victorious Moslems go at each others' throats.
