The jihadist who beheaded the American journalist James Foley is believed to be British born militant from London who calls himself John, it can be revealed. Intelligence agents in the UK and United States are urgently looking into reports that the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil) fighter, whose brutal actions shocked the world, is the ringleader of group of British jihadists who have specialised in hostage taking. Based in the Isil stronghold of Raqqa in Syria, ‘John’, is described as a well-educated, intelligent, but highly committed member of the extremist terror group.

There’s a silver lining in this. An organization that is apparently accepting recruits from all over, and even promoting them to senior positions, is wide open to infiltration.
One of the big problems with getting human intelligence on many of these groups is that they’re often clan-based and therefore hard to infiltrate.
As a lovely side benefit, the organization is also subject to disruption by accusations, true or false, of individuals being infiltrators. Wouldn’t be hard for real infiltrators to plant evidence implicating those who aren’t.
Would take remarkably big balls to volunteer for this job.
“John” - was this a person of British heritage, who converted to Islam (either from being a former Christian, or of no religious denomination), or was he the child of Islamic immigrants, or was he an immigrant to Great Britain himself?
If the first instance, we are in vastly more trouble than we now know. In the second instance, a wholesale return of these immigrants from the far reaches of the old British Empire/Commonwealth is fully justified. If an immigrant himself, and “naturalized”, strip the citizenship immediately.
In every instance, he is a primary target for capture or elimination.
Maybe a drone can find this John?
