Filmmaker Spike Lee weighed in on the death of Michael Brown and said the uprising in Ferguson, Mo., is in response to years of racial tension and mistreatment towards the black community in the United States. When people get to a point to that tipping point they cant take it anymore, Lee said on CNN on Tuesday, listing the tragedies involving Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Rodney King, and others.
While he seemed to disapprove of looting and burning property, Lee also said that he just hope[s] that things will really blow up if people arent happy with the verdict of this upcoming trial.
The deaths of Brown, Martin, Garner, and others are extreme examples of a growing trend in America, he continued.
I just think there is a war on the black male, and its tearing the country apart, in my opinion, Lee said. Its not just killing us its educational system, its the prison system, its these young black men growing up with no hope. Its systematic.
Earlier in the interview, Lee also questioned the validity of the account of a friend of Officer Darren Wilson, who killed Brown, which was substantially more favorable to the officer than other witnesses accounts. Lee said the timing of the friends statement was orchestrated and said shed been reading from a script.
Lee infamously involved himself in the media frenzy surrounding the 2012 Trayvon Martin case, at one point distributing to his hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers what he thought was the address to the house of Martins killer. (The address ended up belonging to an elderly Florida couple, who received a series of death threats in the subsequent months.)
The deck is stacked against them. In fact, i am going to start a crusade to bring awareness and shutdown colleges that do not allow black people, trade schools that do not allow black people, any scholarship or financial aid program that does not allow black people. And to make everything fair, all court cases involving black defendents should be dropped
I agree...
There IS a war on black males, but it is a war with OTHER black males, as evidenced every single night in our Democrat-run inner-city hellholes.
Oopsy...
That might make a DEMOCRAT look bad, so we can’t talk about THAT.
What Spike Lee is REALLY saying is that the “tipping point” is when you're so bored being unemployed, dropping out of school, hanging out, collecting food stamps, using drugs, making babies and abandoning them, carjacking, burning down houses, Rapping all day, smoking, robbing and killing YOUR OWN African_American Brothers...then, at some point, you snap, can't take all the boredom no more. You go nuts, you gotta lash out at White cops because they are the reason for your own downfall...
Thanks for clearing that up Spike.
... Lee, who now lives on the Upper East Side ["white privileged"]
Rodney King was not available for comment...
What verdict of what upcoming trial??
Trial, what Trial?
Spike must have been talking to Governor Nixon.
Dear Spike,
Not yet, but keep trying.
Love,
George
Ok, who is causing the racial tension and who is mistreating the black community. Name them!
Sure, Spike. Whatever you say. {Yawn}
>>I just think there is a war on the black male, and its tearing the country apart, in my opinion, Lee said. Its not just killing us its educational system, its the prison system, its these young black men growing up with no hope. Its systematic.
The education system in many black majority cities has been run by blacks for decades. Fat lot of good that has done, eh, Spike?
....by the black male
Can anyone point me to the Caucasian riots during the Great Depression?
The rules of a civilized society are completely violated by a large portion of both black (and brown) people.
Obedience to laws, social graces, personal responsibility, work ethic, and most of all...individualism are absent from their list of rules to live by. The minority who do have those traits are looked down upon and excluded from their putrid society (if you want to call a society).
In 1964 LBJ “let the dogs loose” on society with the total destruction of our society with “The Great Society” and the damage it has done is catastrophic. The political “bullet” has hit its target.....PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and INDIVIDUALITY! They all swim as a school of fish following whatever is the fad of the day.
Granted, there are millions of good and decent black and brown people out there but their society is quickly being eaten away by the cancer of irresponsibility.
“I was in England in 1983, while in the USAF...”
It was the same way at Lakenheath in 1967.
death whether he's guilty or innocent
Stand up Spike,oh,God love ya you are!
In the week and a half since Brown was killed how many Black males were killed by other Black males in Chicago and New York and New Orleans and Houston? If there is a war on Black males then it's a civil war.
Lakenheath is where I was, plus Mildenhall and Greenham Common. I was TDY from Germany. I was in the Control Tower at Greenham Common, when a C-5 landed with the first ground launched cruise missiles on board. This was a month after the Marine Barracks in Beirut had been bombed, when we saw a vehicle heading across the runway, straight for the C-5 on the ramp. Two USAF security police vehicles stopped him cold. As it turns out, there were no explosives in the car, but those cops did not know that.
I see that not much had changed in that time period, in reference to the subject we were discussing. It is probably still the same now too, if those USAFE bases are still open.
