well, at 10:50 pm eastern, the police have moved in their vehicles and started to try to disperse the crowd again. visible rocks and other objects are flying

This is what happens when you have a whole neighborhood that doesn’t have to get up for work in the morning.

You mean a whole neighborhood from Oakland? LOL Many of the people in this neighborhood have regular jobs and hate what's going on.

Suggest a lifetime ban on EBT/SNAP cards for anyone causing trouble.

There are already lifetime bans for felonies and some misdemeanors. But you kind of have to be convicted of something first.

well, it looks like it has settled down for right now, but the night is still young...
prior to the police ramping up, there were crowds all over, walking mostly on boths sides of the street. the crowd started to move on to the street, and the police started to tell everyone to get back on the sidewalks.
I'm not sure what the original incident was, but all of a sudden, the camera switched to show the police rushing into the area, telling the protesters to disperse, as things started to be thrown at the police.
the noise maker and a bunch of vehicles were used to move people off the street, then some of them went off down to what is thought to have been a market down the street where something was happening, and things started to calm down to the stand off that we have here.
