A poll from the Florida Chamber Political Institute (FCPI) unveiled on Monday shows Gov. Rick Scott has taken the lead over former Gov. Charlie Crist. Despite having spent most of his political life as a Republican, Crist is the favorite to win the Democratic primary next week.
Scott takes 44 percent in the poll of likely voters while Crist garners 41 percent. Scotts lead expands when Libertarian Adrian Wyllie is added into the mix. In that scenario, Scott takes 41 percent, Crist gets 35 percent and Wyllie takes 4 percent.
While top concerns for voters remain jobs and the economy, their support of Gov. Scott is a signal they approve of his strong ability to create private-sector jobs, said Marian Johnson, the senior vice president of the Florida Chamber Political Institute. This is evidenced by the fact that 43 percent of the voters believe Floridas unemployment rate is lower since Rick Scott took office.
I believe a major reason Charlie Crist is visibly losing support is because voters are beginning to realize that Rick Scotts private-sector, pro-jobs plan is working and that Florida continues to move in the right direction, said Mark Wilson, the president and CEO of the Florida Chamber.
The poll of 627 likely voters was taken from Aug. 10-13 by Cherry Communications and had a margin of error of +/-4 percent.

florida news! :)
Wait, it’s news that a sitting governor has taken a lead over an obvious whore of a politician? A disgusting, little worm of man like Charlie Crist?
Why is Scott showing so poorly?
Why is this even a race?
What party is Charlie Crist with today ?
I haven’t seen any ads yet of Charlie”Limp Wrist” Crist with his “Beard”.
Did they divorce or what?
This is a huge comeback, and very positive news. Scott was in the 30s not all that long ago. He came out early to remind people who Crist is...and has done great comparisons between the state’s performance under his watch vs Crist. A lead is good, good news, as most predicted Crist as the favorite.
Couple of reasons. First, despite all the good things Scott has done for the state, he is the most un-charismatic person you’ll ever meet. Just has no spunk. Second, he’s not been without his share of pissing conservatives off. Not enough to make me not vote for him, but has had some misses.
Not to mention the Florida media is rabidly anti-Scott and has been from day one. If he ended hunger, the press here would characterize it as “Scott policies increase potential for obesity”.
What we stand to see, in the Democrat primary, is whether Charlie Crist even has enough pull within the Democrat party to gain the support of a significant majority over his primary adversary, Nan Rich.
In the wider picture, Charlie was no prize when he was a Republican governor, why would anybody think he would perform any better as a Democrat? Rick Scott has at least brought some degree of financial sanity back to Florida.
Why does Scott even need to comeback against a man such as Crist?
How is it that Crist, a writhing little maggot, even has support anywhere, yet Scott is languishing?
Why is Scott such a weak candidate as a sitting governor?
+1

I would say the demographics in Florida are turning it darker blue every election ...that’s why Crist is close, and it won’t matter who the republican candidates are ...it’s just going to be that way ....
not in Florida...but that’s my guess
Charlie Crist - I will say whatever it takes to anyone that will listen in order to be elected.
That is who Scott’s opponent is.
The GOP, in general, shows in credibly weakly against opponents that should not show at all.
Maybe we should stop running such weak men against obvious villains.
I am really starting to doubt elections and government in general.
People are dumb as rocks, and politicians have nothing to offer anyone, I don’t see a need for them. These people are not leaders, they are parasites.
The coalition of the left would vote for Adolf Hitler if he were on the rat ticket. Meanwhile Scott has done several things to antagonize conservatives (e.g. assigning Angela Corey to the Zimmerman case) so he saw a drop in his own support.
Yes, he has.
He’s not a conservative, that is for sure.
Much like most of the rest of the GOP, he is pitifully weak.
I can think of no reason at all I should trouble myself with supporting him or voting for him.
He has not earned my vote at all.
Romney ran a much tighter race in 2012 than Juan McAmnesty did in 2008.
In fact, if the election were closer, Romney might have contested the Florida results.
Florida is still a swing state.
