I’m not surprised. We live in a rural area. Our mailman tells us that, when he makes deliveries to the black neighborhood on the first of the month, all he sees is seemingly able-bodied men sitting on porches or working on their cars. They actually run after his vehicle, yelling, “You the mailman, right? You got my (gubmint) check?”

A good detective would order them checked for prints, UPC’s scanned and arrest the owner of the prints for looting them the night before.
Of course, somebody on the force would have to actually think for that to happen.
