This story says so much about our current society:
The idea that kids have to be in constant contact with their parents. As another poster said, there used to be a time when you could go a whole day without talking to your parents and no one thought anything of it.
Kids who ignore their parents vs. parents who want to control their kids (if you don’t respond, I’m going to shut down your phone . . .).
I’m not sure kids with cell phones is a good idea precisely because it creates a situation where they can be in constant contact with a parent.
“...because it creates a situation where they can be in constant contact with a parent....”
And that would be a bad thing because.......?
Remember that there used to be pay phones for people to use to call friends and family. When I was a kid I carried quarters with me so I could call my mother and ask her to pick me up. Distances were long and weather severe so sometimes a parent with a car was necessary. But today there are no pay phones. I got my kids a Walmart Trakphone for $30 which they had to pay for. Worked very well and prevented them from spending all their time texting as there were limits on the use, and it would shut itself off if they went over the limit.
Well, you certainly have the right Freeper name!
