40 years ago, my late husband and i did a lot of motorcycle trips around the Eastern part of the USA. There was ALWAYS a Gideon Bible in the nightstand of the Super 8, Motel 6, or motel room where we would stay for the night.

Even the timeshare units had them.

Now, I notice...not so much.

Same. My wife and I travel quite a bit and I don’t see those Bibles anymore. Another bit of nostalgia gone.

Maybe you need to stock up on Bibles whenever you see them cheap at second hand book sales and leave one in your hotel room if it’s not provided. It may get ditched, or it may be found by someone who will appreciate it. Perhaps even put a note in it that it was left there by a guest so hotel staff don’t get nailed, and state that whoever finds it is welcome to take it. Unfortunately, I don’t travel much so I don’t really get a chance to do that.

I do, however, keep a few in my car and I have sometimes been asked by someone at a car wash if they can take one. I find a useful addition to that, given that in South Africa for many English is a second or third language, is John Blanchard’s booklet Ultimate Questions which is very simply written so I like to have a stock of those as well.
