The reports said one officer responded to the robbery, then after viewing the video and making his report he proceeded to the man’s death and viewed him and recognized him as the thief.
But the other officer had already shot and killed him.

Brown knew he was guilty of robbing the store and would have been hyper sensitive to any cop in his presence. Brown could have very easily been violent when confronted by the cop - even w/o the cop knowing about the robbery. Brown may have been shot in or very near the cop car during the confrontation between the two and then wandered off a little distance before collapsing and dying.
If the above is true, there should be hard physical evidence of it.
