I think Russia will eventually win in this, but Ukraine will hurt them in the process it appears.Nobody thought the Afghans would outlast the Russians. We figured we'd bleed them for decades, but the theoretical endgame was a troublesome new Soviet Socialist Republic that would give the Russians headaches for a good long while before succumbing.

A great many tanks used by the Russian army from the T34 through the T80 were manufactured in the Ukrainian Kharkov factory. I’m betting they know every weakness and ways to exploit them.
